Maleficient 1 & 2 (both A’s) and even better than some, such as Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass (A-s). In CinemaScore exits, A Quiet Place Part II received an A- (an improvement on the first film’s B+), while Cruella notched a solid A, in line with previous Disney live-action spinoffs of animated fare, i.e. It will invite them to come back and do it all over again.”ĭisney did not report any figures or make anecdotal statements about the Disney+ Premier performance of Cruella. Audiences got to watch the trailers for the upcoming summer blockbuster movies this summer. In all fairness to Disney, they did lean into a marketing campaign, especially with their fashion promo partners, which was intended to spur theatrical moviegoing traffic.ĭisney’s Global Theatrical Distribution Head Tony Chambers was over the moon about both movies’ success in the states, “This weekend repped for many their first experience going back to the theater and seeing the security measures in place. The good news for domestic exhibitors is that audiences are choosing to watch the movie in theaters. Kong, what Cruella indicates is that if it wasn’t on Disney+ Premier at $29.99, it could have made more money, at least here in the US. That said, Disney has traditionally programmed the Memorial Day weekend. However, rivals have sniped about how low Friday was in the face of A Quiet Place Part II, that the movie with its experimental distribution window should have gone last weekend. Disney is calling the weekend at $21.3M with the four day at $26.5M at 3,892 theaters, for a $6,8K per theater. Disneyĭisney’s Cruella posted $7.2M on Saturday, -6% from Friday’s $7.7M, including Thursday previews. “The film’s stellar results give the box office a strong jolt of momentum heading into the summer, and the many blockbusters that held out for an exclusive theatrical release stand to benefit.” Cruella’s most prized possession? A Louis Vuitton Capucines bag. “ A Quiet Place Part II is the first domestic release this year to cross the threshold from ‘great opening weekend given the pandemic’ to ‘great opening weekend, period’ - offering undeniable proof that the domestic box office is back” beamed Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX in a statement. Imax delivered $4.1M Stateside for A Quiet Place Part II or 8.6% of the domestic gross, making it the highest Imax opening weekend since January 2020. to its pre-pandemic of 7%-10%.Įxorcist filmmaker William Friedkin and Krasinski’s excitement over cinema’s return this past weekend: It is currently not available on PVOD in Canada, where big provinces like Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba have theaters closed down the country currently repping around 1%-2% of the B.O. The sequel will hit Paramount+ after that time frame. We had a movie that is quintessential in being a communal experience in a theater and audiences responded.”Ī Quiet Place Part II‘s money is being earned on a pure, unadulterated 45-day theatrical window. There’s a pent-up demand for many to resume their normal summer activities including baseball games, barbecues, going to the beach and vacationing. As Theatrical Marketplace Hopes For Summer RecoveryĮxclaimed Paramount domestic distribution boss Chris Aronson about the comeback of moviegoing, “How many times in their lifetime have movie theaters been threatened? People weren’t going to be locked up in their homes forever and this weekend was the most our country has been open in a quite some time. 'A Quiet Place 2' & 'Cruella' Battle For No.

The Switch port of Cloudpunk is riddled with technical issues, too, and the most pressing is the draw distance. In Cloudpunk - City of Ghosts, you play as both Rania and new character Hayse in a more dangerous, more tense city of Nivalis. The good news is, you can use Nocturn as a normal remote controller and make the control mapping in the C4 device setup. I use a Pulsar II as a pure XTC card, no I/O. After taking the XTC plug-ins out of the automap selection the sound came back. The midi light on the Synth images where blinking. This works quite well, but. When I tried the XTC plug-ins there was no sound at all. It seem to wrap all the VST's you chose and makes a mappings. I can't tell what functionality changed on the Alphatrack since there's no manual yet for that upgrade. By upgrading to the newest 1.07 driver of Alphatrack and the latest Novation Automap 3.0 I managed to get it back to work. So I can give you my first impression:įor remote control I use an Alphatrack but as I felt I had to little parameters to handle simultaniously for plugins in C4.5, I looked for an additional controller.Īfter installing Nocturn Alphatrack froze. I would recommend you to patent your workĪbsolutely amazing.I bought one yesterday, second hand for really cheap. I wouldnt surprise to see your work over on stores in some months Probably the sickest thing I've ever seen. Last, I was just reading the comments on this Dragon midi controller video. Which company do you think could make something like that? What would be the biggest difficulty in making something like this? Would it increase your workflow and overall music making experience? From film conmposers to edm producers and they were really excited. I discussed this with many people in the music scene/industry and they loved the idea. I would pay $500-$800 for such a controller - given made of good quality and have templates for many plugins DAW & 3rd party - and that would be the last controller i would ever buy. You could even have pages and on each page the controller background changes along with the assigned knobs (like it is with the Nocturn). So, similar to the photo in the link, i want to see each section separated from the rest, osc/envelopes/modulation/filter etc like looking at the plugin on my screen with similar colors and section arrangement. We want to be looking at the actual instrument, when looking at the controller. With a controller like the Mackie C4 or the Nocturn or the BCR2000, it becomes very difficult to reach and remember the controls. I have seen these tuna knobs but again, far from what i am describing. And no, with a touchscreen controller is not the same experience. You need to be able to reach to the controls with both of your hands, trying different things. When you do sound design, you want to control the instrument. Why? What would be the benefits of such a controller? I have seen some people making overlays for the BCR2000.imagine that when selecting the plugin from the DAW, the background of the controller becomes.well. I understand that there would have to be templates for each synth or plugin from different vendors (and that opens up to a whole new market, people could be designing their own templates for existing plugins - synths and effects - and this controller could become the new standard) Perhaps the real product would be something like this photorealistic 3d design: So essentially what i am suggesting is an oled screen with real knobs/faders/buttons on top of it. So, we will have the real knobs and the background of the controller would display an 'arranged' version of the VST/AU synth/plugin selected in the DAW.įor example, if i select the Sylenth1 in my daw, the background of the controller device changes to the Sylenth1 (and the knobs would be automapped to the Sylenth1 of course). Imagine a similar controller with 32 or even more knobs, HOWEVER the background of the actual device, instead of plastic and the red leds, would be an oled or amoled display (similar to a high res mobile/cell phone screen). So, the idea is a controller like Nocturn or BCR2000 with endless knobs. I mentioning Logic here as an example but this can be done with most popular DAWs. I premapped some knobs to plugin parameters i use frequently and when i have the plugin selected in Logic, controlls i use mostly are on my disposal on the BCR2000. I also do the same with my BCR2000 in Logic. The leds on the controller also get positioned to the corresponding values on the plugin upon selection. For example, if i select the Logic EQ in track 1, then all the knobs of the Nocurn map there, if i select the EQ in track 2 it maps on track 2 and so on. Prologue: If you are not familiar with the Novation Nocturn and their Automap technology, the Nocturn maps controls on its 8 endless knobs on the selected plugin in the DAW. I am not affiliated with any company or have any other commercial interest. I would like to share an idea for a new midi controller and would love to hear some feedback. Hänssler's digital piano sound is massive enough and detailed enough, but perhaps too close and clattery in the climaxes. And that, after all, is what great German piano playing is like at its best. And even though his performance of Busoni's mind-boggling, soul-piercing, and heart-stopping transcription of the Chaconne from Bach's D minor Partita for solo violin may not quite climb the highest peaks of the work's rarefied super virtuosity - check out Michelangeli's numinous, luminous, and altogether glorious account for that - Oppitz's performance is still able to transfix, transform, and transmigrate the soul of the listener. Even better, the tenderly soulful intimacy of Oppitz's performances of Kempff's ethereal arrangements of six of Bach's choral works effortlessly transcends any qualms about the legitimacy of arranging works from one medium into another. This album contains Bach’s piano transcriptions by D’Albert, presented by Piano Classics, a label of Brilliant Classics.Online purchase or streaming (Spotify. The sheer concentrated intensity of Oppitz's performances of Reger's Bach Variations and Fugue or Liszt's Präludium und Fuge easily overcomes any misgivings about the occasional slipped note or snapped rhythm. Similarly, pianist Gerhard Oppitz has taken as his model his German forbearers, particularly Wilhelm Kempff, the doyen of German pianists, thereby assuming an imperious tone, an introverted interpretation, and a not quite super virtuoso technique - also known as German piano playing.Īnd it works magnificently. composed by Johann Baptist Joseph Maximillian Reger, 1873- produced by Heinz Wildhagen, fl. It's visually quite stunning and features a solid but overplayed soundtrack. Now and then something will hit just right and you’ll see the potential that's there. Spirit of the North’s inability to nail down even its extremely limited gameplay means that it's a pretty constant frustration. This is a genre known for minimal gameplay, and maximum experience. Spirit of the North positions itself as a title similar to Journey, Abzu, or Rime, but it stumbles at the most basic levels of its gameplay. Although I’d pin that less on the composition itself and more on its implementation. It certainly doesn’t have the emotional impact of the soundtracks of many other games in this genre. While the music is good, it repeats constantly and doesn’t seem particularly situational. The music is similarly high quality, though it perhaps suffers being played too often. Getting to a new area and taking in your surroundings is one of Spirit of the North's stronger elements. While the Switch version runs at a significantly lower resolution than other versions, its visual identity is well maintained. The whole thing looks like an attempt to make an entire game out of Unreal Engine demos, and I don’t mean this in a bad way. On the visual front, Spirit of the North makes the jump to Switch quite well. At best, they slow the player down and pad out the experience. These are systems that are in place to limit the player but don’t seem to be integrated into the actual game design in any real way. As alluded to earlier, the same goes for stamina, where at no point does the game challenge you not to run out. Were you to have infinite use of your abilities it wouldn’t affect any of the puzzles, it would just improve the pace of the game. What's frustrating is that much like the stamina system, no element of the game design really relies on you managing your charge. Add to this that the animation for the flowers releasing energy is painfully slow, and you have a recipe for a monotonous trudge. To do this you’ll have to make continual journeys back to the flowers to recharge. However, oftentimes these puzzles will require you to use up your charge multiple times. The abilities themselves are interesting and are leveraged into a huge variety of different puzzles. This applies to pretty much every task in the game: imbuing energy into stone obelisks, dispelling evil growths, and activating portals, to name a few. You can harvest a single charge from these flowers which will then be used up by whatever ability you activate. All of the abilities are built around the concept of first pulling energy from blue flowers that you’ll find scattered across the world. At the start, the fox is limited to running and jumping, but as the story progresses new powers are unlocked. Much of the gameplay is built around solving puzzles. What I’d quickly find is that this was just the first of multiple functions built on limitations that don’t serve the game design. There is a run button, but it draws from a limited (and not visually represented) pool of stamina that must recharge between uses. This is made worse by how incredibly slow the fox is. In early chapters I’d often walk to the extreme edge of the map hoping to find something, but would inevitably return a little disappointed. While the areas are often huge, the area you’ll actually need to solve puzzles in and explore is generally quite small. Each one sporting a large detailed environment that must be worked through. What follows is a series of linear chapters. After a fall leaves your fox wounded, the two join together to continue their quest. Early in the fox’s adventure, it encounters the spirit of another fox. Spirit of the North follows a fox on a journey towards the origin of a mysterious red cloud that snakes its way across the sky. Ideas: If you have ideas, questions, or follow-ups you want to make after the meeting wraps, include a section for jotting these types of notes down during the meeting so you don’t forget.įreelance project consultant Claire Emerson says there are a few key ways she has learned to take A+ meeting notes: “Use the meeting agenda to reflect what’s discussed so you don’t double up on that info, make it clear what needs to be done as a result from the meeting, record the audio so nothing gets missed, and then send your notes out to all attendees making it clear who has homework due.” Meeting notes templateįollowing a template can help reduce clutter, making your meeting notes easier to read through.Action items: As action items are proposed in the meeting, make sure to write down the assignment, who it’s assigned to, and its due date.Try to limit each point to no more than three sentences, and be sure to ask the room for confirmation before writing down any plans or decisions. Key points on the agenda: Record a brief summary of each item covered on the agenda and the outcomes you discussed.Let’s look at the main information you need to write down when you’re taking meeting notes: It should also be clear when your notes refer back to a talking point in the meeting minutes. The goal is to keep your notes as simple as possible without losing any important details. Otherwise, your notepad could end up being cluttered with confusing shorthand sentences that provide very little context and information. While meeting notes aren’t as formal and structured as minutes, you still need to follow some structure when writing them. That’s where meeting notes come in handy. Perhaps note-taking helps with your creative process, or it allows you to record information in a way that’s easier for you to understand. Minutes act as a central document that touches on everything important in the meeting, but sometimes you want to take your own notes separate from the meeting minutes. The reason for this is because minutes act as legal documentation of what’s covered in your meetings, and are viewed as such by the court and auditors. The information covered in minutes isn’t that different from meeting notes, but it follows a more structured format.
